13 About Community Services NHS South West Essex Community Services already has a successful arms- length relationship with the PCT. It operates via a scheme of delegation which governs its relationship with the PCT and through other governance policies and procedures. Services are delivered in GP practices, health centres, acute and community hospitals, and a minor injury unit as well as in patients' own homes. Annual gross expenditure is in the region of £ 70 million, with 93% of income deriving from PCT contracts. The total workforce of approximately 1,900 treats approximately 80,000 patients each year in more than 30 locations across South West Essex. Community Services comprises 59 clinical services grouped into four directorates: . Adult Specialist Services; . Children's and Young People Services; . Adults and Older People Services; and . Health Improvement. Community Services and the PCT are in the middle of a comprehensive review of service descriptions and specifications. The next stage of the review is due for delivery later this year. Our vision Community Services continues to develop a detailed strategy for transforming the provision of community services, identifying priorities for development and for service improvement The strategy will be informed by market and competitor analysis, which will provide Community Services with a complete picture of the market and its position within that market. 14 |
